No Tricks, Just Treats for Families!

One thing the Flutie Foundation does best is collaborate with local community organizations that are answering today’s challenges facing the autism community by providing critical, innovative, and responsive programming. Families affected by autism want what every family wants - for their loved ones to be healthy, to learn, enjoy friendships, work, to live fully.

Our Community Grants Program provides financial support to charities throughout New England, NY, NJ and parts of Florida that are helping individuals and families affected by autism get access to services, lead more active lifestyles and grow toward adult adult independence. The Autism Alliance is one Community Grant Recipient that is on the front line, helping Massachusetts families understand an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis, guiding them through the next steps, and connecting them to a supportive community.

This October, we were thrilled to fund the Autism Alliance's Annual Halloween Dance Party. Halloween is a highly anticipated holiday for families. However, individuals with autism may have a more difficult time coping with the changes that take place during the Halloween festivities.  The Autism Alliance Halloween Dance Party was a sensory-friendly event that brings local families together in an environment that is safe and fun for everyone. After all, who doesn’t love a good party?!

Our Community Grant Recipients are diverse, as are their projects and programs, but our focus us always on helping families thrive! For a complete list of our partners on the ground, visit http://www.flutiefoundation.org/resource-directory

On Wednesday, November 14th in Cambridge, MA, the Flute Foundation will host a free screening and discussion of Extraordinary People, which tells story of six adults across the autism spectrum, who, despite individual challenges, have found meaningful value and a deep sense of pride from their work at a business called Extraordinary Ventures. The film redefines expectations for employers and society alike, and shows the essential role a job plays for adults living with autism and their families. Register to Attend »
